Across many regions in Africa, agriculture faces increasing pressure from climate change, water scarcity and soil degradation.
At the same time, farmers often lack access to digital tools and information needed to respond effectively to these challenges.
BRIDGE-AI develops and employs innovative digital solutions based on Generative AI to support farmers in their daily decisions. By combining satellite data, field sensors and predictive models, the project provides practical and accessible recommendations tailored to local conditions.
Agriculture in Africa is highly dependent on rainfall, with more than 95% of cultivated land relying on it. This makes farmers particularly vulnerable to climate variability and extreme weather conditions.
Limited access to irrigation systems, advisory services and digital tools further constrains productivity and innovation. While artificial intelligence offers strong potential, many solutions remain inaccessible or not adapted to local needs.
