ABOUT University of Sousse
The University of Sousse (US) is one of Tunisia’s leading public universities, recognized for excellence in education, scientific research, and innovation. Established in 2004, it brings together numerous faculties, engineering schools, and research laboratories covering a wide range of disciplines, including engineering, computer science, artificial intelligence, agriculture, health sciences, and digital technologies. Through its strong collaboration with national and international academic, industrial, and governmental partners, the University actively contributes to research excellence, technology transfer, and socio-economic development in Tunisia and across Africa.
ROLE IN BRIDGE-AI
The University of Sousse will lead WP2 and coordinate the related activities on requirements definition, stakeholder engagement, data collection, and use-case preparation. It will also act as the use-case holder for the AI-enhanced pomegranate farming pilot in Tunisia, coordinating the deployment and validation of IoT sensors, remote-sensing data, AI models, and decision-support tools in representative orchards. The University will work closely with farmers, cooperatives, CRDA representatives, technology providers, and consortium partners to ensure that the developed solutions address real agricultural needs and local operating conditions.
In addition, the University of Sousse will contribute its expertise in artificial intelligence, data analytics, remote sensing, and digital innovation to the design, development, and validation of trustworthy AI solutions. It will support pilot implementation, scientific evaluation, dissemination, training, and capacity-building activities, while promoting knowledge transfer and the long-term adoption of the project’s results in Tunisia and across the African agricultural ecosystem.
