BRIDGE-AI تنطلق لتعزيز الزراعة الذكية مناخياً من خلال الذكاء الاصطناعي التوليدي في أفريقيا

BRIDGE-AI has officially begun its three-year programme to explore how Generative AI can help African agriculture become more sustainable, productive and resilient to climate change.

With funding from the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA), the project will create digital solutions for rural farming communities in Kenya, Tunisia and Nigeria. These technologies will integrate satellite imagery, agricultural sensors and AI to provide actionable information that helps farmers make decisions and respond to environmental challenges.

The initiative places particular emphasis on resource efficiency, digital inclusion and collaboration with local communities. Through Living Labs, farmers will participate directly in developing, testing and assessing solutions suited to their circumstances.

Led by Eurecat, BRIDGE-AI brings together European and African organisations: Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Seamless Middleware Technologies, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, MooMe, the University of Sousse, AgroInfoTech Labs and AUSTRIACARD Holdings.

Four pilots will demonstrate the technologies in different agricultural contexts: Nigerian maize production, Kenyan mushroom cultivation, and Tunisian pasture forecasting and pomegranate farming.

Beyond technological development, BRIDGE-AI seeks to build digital capabilities, encourage local innovation and deliver practical benefits for agricultural communities.
